December Luncheon – Nigel Rose, Chief Executive Officer at Hope Against Cancer

Our speaker this month is Nigel Rose.

Nigel has been involved in the voluntary and community sector since 1994. He began working in community fundraising, managing donor acquisition and development programmes for several national charities. He co-founded Children Today Charitable Trust in 1996, serving first as a trustee and have been Chair of Trustees since 1998.

He joined the Royal National Institute of Blind People in 1998 and was responsible for
developing and managing significant voluntary income generation from Lottery distribution
bodies, statutory and European Union funding sources helping RNIB to lever in over
£8 million to support projects and services.

In 2009 he joined Self Unlimited (formerly CARE) as their fundraising and communications director and led the fundraising and communications around a major strategic change-management programme, leaving upon the integration of a successful merger.

Pre 1994, his early career included being a nursing assistant, deputy harbour master, lifeboat engineer/crew member (on the Channel Island of Alderney, where he was born), winning several medals for bravery and following that, eight years service in the Royal Air Force.

Nigel has been a regular speaker, trainer and workshop at various fundraising conferences, have served as a volunteer prison lay visitor in Leicestershire and is a serving Chair of Governors at a junior school in Northants.

Nigel lives locally in Leicestershire and Rutland for over 30 years and now live in Uppingham.
Much of my spare time is spent looking after my two grandchildren!
