Joe Flavin - on Theatre, Trial and Tales
Joe will bring a lively insider’s take on careers in the arts, shifting audiences, and the fight to keep creativity alive under financial pressure.
Joe Flavin is Director of The Core at Corby Cube and a highly experienced arts leader with a career spanning theatre, live performance and creative engagement in the UK and Ireland. His previous roles include Axis Ballymun in Dublin, Visual Centre for Contemporary Arts & George Bernard Shaw Theatre in Carlow, and Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. He is also a co-founder of RED Wednesday Arts and has championed new writing and emerging talent throughout his career.
At The BizClub, Joe will share his own journey into the arts and ask about the opportunities available to young people trying to break into the industry today. He’ll also explore the real-world pressures facing theatres and live venues: changing audience habits, global uncertainty, fragile funding, rising costs, and the growing challenge of balancing creativity with commercial survival.
It promises to be an engaging, thought-provoking talk from someone working at the sharp end of culture, community and commerce.
